The STS, in much loved V form. For people who need to get to bingo practice really fast. Think we’ll ever see a CT6-V?

That car was such a pile of shit unfortunately. I don’t know what it was but Cadillacs of that generation just fall to pieces after 30k. I don’t know what it is but they go for decent car to hooptie regardless of who owns them or how well they take care of them. Just remember when you see an STS or a first gen SRX, that you are seeing one of the few survivors.

I’m guessing the first-gen CTS-V also falls in that category, which is a shame because you can get them for around $15k CAD now.

Yeah. Great cars to drive honestly aside from all the rattles. Probably the smoothest manual car I’ve ever driven. Oh yeah the diffs blow up at random which would explain the low resale value.

I was behind one today!

I’d say no on the CT6-V. Went to a Cadillac Truth or Dare event last weekend (10/10 recommend) and got some time in the CT6 as well as basically stoplight drags in the ATS-V and CTS-V.
The V cars are great fun but need to be tracked to be wrung out. The CT6 is bigger, and quite a bit more luxurious - I like it a lot, but the V just seems out of character for it.

Hold on now. I owned a 2003 CTS, and it sung wonderfully up to 160k until some idiot took it away from me in an accident. And I once knew someone with one with over 300k on the odometer. Barely any rattles, barely any issues. Solid cars throughout. I think that’s a bit of an overstatement.

Solid answer, and a sensible one too.

It’s the same reason why BMW never built an M7- but maybe there’s room for an “Alpina B7" version? Nah, not really but it would be cool.
All of the Caddys were a pleasure to drive- the CTS feels a lot lighter than my GS350 (hell the CT6 feels like it’s no heavier than the Lexus)

God I hope so

Probably just didn’t notice them. I worked at a Cadillac dealership during the ignition recalls and got pretty much everything GM from 1996 and up. I have seen nice clean examples with surprising amounts of miles on them but I’m talking about the vast majority. They aren’t scrapped do to unreliability. They’re scrapped because they have the fit and finish of something that rolled off the British Leyland assembly line in the mid 80's. The CTS was a less prone to it for some reason but the first gen SRX was by far the worst GM product I have ever seen them churn out firsthand. The XLR is second and the STS is a close 3rd. Remember I’m talking fit and finish not reliability. If that were the main focus the XLR is horrifically unreliable. Electrical problems everywhere and the shitbox northstar that leaked oil like a sieve didn’t help.

Yes. And They will sell like 42 of them.

My guess is we do see a V-Sport, though. A full-on track machine doesn’t make sense but a faster one certainly would.
Think AMG vs AMG Black.

I’d love to see that — and it should be some variant of the 6.2l V8 (the TTV6 is already available in the regular CT6).
Funny thing about the V-Sport, though - I was at the Cadillac Truth or Dare event in Chicago this past weekend, and they had just about every variant of a Cadillac you could possibly want available- - except the CTS V-Sport. They’re unicorns around here - probably due to the combination of price point/lack of AWD. :(

I could be wrong, but I thought the CTS-V was to be the last Caddy with the SBC/LS/LT V8. Trying out the Northstar route again to set themselves apart.

You may well be right - I haven’t followed it closely at all. But a big Caddy just demands a V8 to me.
Unless they can find a way to pass emissions with even more cylinders...

I bet the ATS-V is super fun. If they ever put an NA lt1 in it itll be hard for me to resist.

Yeah, that worked out great for them the first time.
But I guess the TTv6 is a far cry from the N* trash, as long as its reliable. It would be a shame if overcomplication of the drivetrain leads to Caddys having German reliability and repair costs. Caddy could have easily stood out from the entire lux sedan crowd by putting the LT1 in the ATS and CTS and having an edge on the Germans in reliability. The only truly reliable option is maybe Lexus, and the ATS and CTS are a lot more exciting than most lexii.

With the V cars, our time behind the wheel was limited to acceleration to 65-70 mph from a dead stop (in D with traction on). ATS first, then the CTS-V. Great fun, but didn’t take any corners.
Both are breathtaking, with similar 0-60 numbers - but there’s a difference in how they do it because the CTS-V has more trouble getting the power down, but notably quicker once it hooks up.
The ATS-V might be more fun on an autocross because it’s lighter. Brakes are fantastic on both.

I honestly forgot the STS was a thing. Still think this gen looked better.
Is it weird I kinda want an ETC?
